Marty Scott is in his second year as Lincoln’s manager. Scott guided the Saltdogs to the 2009 American Association championship.

The 56-year-old spent the past 33 years in professional baseball, working as both a field manager and in the front office. Scott spent 2008 as manager of the New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets.

His record as a minor-league manager stands at 528-508 and he has four championships under his belt. He began managing in the Texas Rangers’ farm system in 1982 and won a title with the Tri-City Triplets of the Northwest League in 1984. After spending the next ten years as the Rangers’ Director of Player Development, Scott returned to the field as the manager of the St. Paul Saints. He won Northern League titles in 1995 and 1996 and guided the Saints to the championship series in 1998.
Scott moved into the Saints’ front office in 2001 as Vice President and became the president of Texas Independent Baseball in 2002. He briefly went back to the dugout that year, to manage the Fort Worth Cats for the final 32 games of the season. Scott also managed Team USA in 2002 and 2003, guiding the national team through baseball’s World Cup and helping them qualify for the Pan-American Games.

As a player, Scott was an All-American at Dallas Baptist University. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1977, and played four seasons in their organization at the AA and AAA levels. Scott is member of the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame.
